Hello everyone. :)

20th February 2012 carved a momentous moment in KYUEM history as the new Student Council members was officially elected. The handover ceremony was conducted by Mikhail Rosli from Topaz, where the senior Student Council members handed their files as a symbol of passing down the portfolios to their respective successors. These are the new names, these are the new faces, who are now continuing the legacy of the previous students' leaders.

Parents, CEO of KYUEM, Pn Nor Rubaihah, our beloved headmaster, Mr Neil
Sutherland, beloved teachers and staff at KYUEM, and most importantly my
wonderful fellow batch mates.

About two or one and a half year ago, we embarked upon our journey with
determination and character. We came here with our own expectations. Most
of us were expecting to learn interesting things; things beyond academic
studies.

In addition, I believe we have learnt about dedication, perseverance,
determination, toleration, and above all, about friendship.

We started by Induction, when we were officially accepted as KYUEM’s
samurai, following that we had Batch Anniversary, an awesome CP, challenging
Bangsawan, and also lots of Inter-house tournaments. We competed, fought,
and strived for glory.

There is a typical joke told by my super-senior. He said that there is nothing
interesting at KYUEM. So the only entertainment here is our friends. At first I
thought it was only a lame joke. Now I realise the truth. Every day, we wake
up, meet the same people, eat at the same place, go to the same classes

and play the same sports. Students here have lots to do but in particular
they are with their friends sharing jokes and gossip. We play, laugh, and cry
together. The house-system enables us to experience the joy, frustration, and
the sense of loyalty. We should remember the passion felt when cheering
for our house teams. Above all, the most valuable lesson here is how we are
adapting in KYUEM. It is a multi-racial college. There is a wide variety of culture
and traditions to be experienced here. I was very happy to see the Hari Raya
Celebration, CNY Dinner, and Deepavali Night were celebrated enthusiastically.
From my perspective, this illustrates the strong bonding between KYUEM
members.

My friends,

I have a dream, that one day; the big five, Khazanah, Petronas, UEM, TNB and
PWC are headed by us, because we are trained to be great corporate leaders
here.

I have a dream that one day, even the political arena will be dominated by our
potential politicians like Sakir and Sheikh.

I have a dream that one day; we can make the world better if everyone does
something. It does not matter how much we contribute, what is important is
our genuine intention to improve. As the late Micheal Jackson said, ‘Heal the
world’.

One piece of advice, do not become a person who only thinks about
what benefits yourself. Learn to contribute because it will generate more
satisfaction

Friends,

I understand if some of us demand a map to success. Believe me, there is no
map. No one knows where the route ends because success is a journey, not a
destination.

I understand that after we graduate from KYUEM, we might expect easier
challenges awaiting. Believe me, things in life get tougher, not easier. However,
I am confident, as the going gets tough, the tough get going.

Before I end,

I want to take this opportunity to thank all teachers who have been extremely
supportive to us. Not to forget, the college’s administration who always try
hard to improve our life in KY. These include Sudents’ Service, Administration,
university relation and the resource center. They are the people behind the
scenes.

Could you imagine, one day if there was no food in the DH

Could you imagine, one day, if there was no Mrs Wong to collect our laundry.

Could you imagine, one day, if MrB stopped scheduling our exams, or abg
hairul stopped organising the midvalley trip.

I believe a simple thank you is enough, if it comes from the bottom of our
hearts.

My deepest gratitude also goes to my team members in the student council
and the house commitee for being extremely cooperative in handling the many
problems faced by the 425 students in KYUEM. Thank you.

My dear friends,

Although our journey in KYUEM comes to an end today, the friendship we have
made and the experiences we have shared, I am sure will be remembered
by all of us for many more years to come. We came here from different
background but today we leave as one big happy family and we thank KYUEM
for the wonderful experience.

An urge to change

Assalamualaikum WBT and hye.

To begin with, I want to stress that this post is not related to any event that is happening in Malaysia. I have no interest to relate political uproar and even economic downturn to urge fellow kyuemi-ans to start doing something.

I have to say, to spread the message for a better tomorrow.  From my perspective, the situation in ky is becoming worse. Surely most of us would not agree with me. Yes you will argue. Everyone have their opinion, not to mention the bright kyuem students. It is okay to disagree but please share your opinion and explain. That was my purpose in the first place. Let’s get started.

Kiasu culture

I found it is normal for us to share talents and knowledge. Rather, I can see the magnificent cooperation between the students. It is absurd to say there are ‘kedekut ilmu’ students in kyuem. Obviously the students here are cooperating really well to achieve great results. HOWEVER, there are still rooms for improvement. I really do not understand why some people try to hide their ‘kiasuness’. I mean, hey, its okay bro; you are doing the right thing. Please do not shy. The problem is becoming worse when these people tend to lie about their homework. I am sure it is typical for us to find the doing-everything-but-homework people finished their homework. Now, the problem arises when the I-follow-what-my-friend-do people asked about homework. There are lots of them. Hence the latter students will finally end up doing nothing. My point is simple. Let’s just reveal the truth. Encourage your friends to kiasu. I do not see any wrongdoing in ‘culturing kiasuness’. Instead, be proud!

Events, events, events!!

One of the visions for typical Malaysians is to produce well-rounded students. At first, I am quite taken by this idea. Anyhow I found some misinterpretation in the implementation. Nothing wrong in this idea but one must realises one potential first before jumping into a hectic life. Even our ex-CEO, the lovely Mr Zakie realised the potential harm. If we continue to strive for all-rounder, we might end up being mediocre or commoners. Why is this so? You see, one must explore the true potential to ensure great success. In economics, they called it specialisation. Focus on the best comparative advantage so we will increase production. Diversifying our focus will reduce the potential greatness. Imagine we are dividing our training for 5 abilities without knowing the real potential. You take 2 hours to train each one. Now imagine a different situation. What if you discover the real talent in YOU, and then focus the real thing? Surely the results will be much better. Have you ever wonder why Bill Gates is once the richest person in the world. He knows what he is good at. Simply put, do not put yourself in the situation where you have to involve in ALL events. Before participate, consider your study first. The main priority in kyuem is your a-level results. The nickname ‘____ di mana-mana’ is not something to grab on.

Hello

Guys, It is a 2-week holiday. From my perspective, it is important to spend your holidays properly. So that those who loaded their bags with Maths and Stats books would not leave their books untouched at the end of the holiday. This is a typical occurrence for us, I believe. Hence I want to stress that you have to PLAN,

your holidays. Spend quality time with your beloved family and have some rest. Take a wonderful trip even though house trips are upcoming. Make sure when the college reopens, you gain enough energy to accelerate for the exams.

New Leaf

As the new year kicks in, a lot of new hopes and expectations are going around as the KYUEMians once again after a long long "productive" break, are storming back to college. For the seniors, let's embrace this one last semester together and pray for the best for our A Levels so that we can fly high into the sky with no one left behind. Juniors, your years in KYUEM is only beginning. Last semester was an eye-opener for you guys, now it's the real deal. Good luck with your new Student Council. With great power, comes with great responsibility.

Furthermore, something to look forward to - the new 70 (rumor has it) students that will join our wonderful life in KYUEM!

However, let us not forget our dearest friend Syazwan Asyraff  who had passed away last semester. May he rest in peace and be blessed by Allah forever. I'm sure a lot of his close friends would love to dedicate this meaningful semester for him as we will continue the ongoing battle. Al-Fatihah.


Well, KYUEMians, let's turn over a new leaf and I really wish that we could have more community spirit among us for a better life in KYUEM.

Mungkin ramai daripada kita yg gembira sakan meraikan dan meluang masa cuti semester ini. Ada yg setiap hari keluar ke pusat membeli belah, bermain futsal, menonton filem-filem terkini seperti TRON:Legacy, Harry Potter, Gulliver's Travel etc.. Tahniah pula kepada mereka yg gigih belajar demi peperiksaan yg bakal menjelang. Kiasu pun berpada-pada, jgn lupakan tanggungjawab sebagai ahli keluarga, terutama sebagai seorg anak.

Tapi kita dikejutkan LAGI dgn berita kepulangan adik Saudara Zulikhwan b Ayub ke Rahmatullah. Setelah lama di ICU, rupa-rupanya Allah SWT lebih menyayanginya. Apapun sebabnya, yg pasti semua ini ujian daripada-Nya.

Allah SWT sudah berfirman,

Demi sesungguhnya akan Kami uji kamu dgn suatu (ujian), iaitu ketakutan, kelaparan dan kekurangan harta, manusia dan buah buahan. Dan berilah kabar gembira orang2 yg sabar (atas ujian itu)

 KYUEM was born in 1998 as far as we may know it. However, some of the buildings were not being established yet. One of our beloved buildings, New Block was built somewhere around 2005 and 2006 if I am not mistaken. These pictures were taken from an old blog made by previous batches which I find them interesting to share with everyone.

Ah. This is rather nice innit? FYI, Food Exco candidate Quraisya Talib (lost to Afzym and Shukri) did mentioned about this idea of putting a menu board (Italian style) in front of the DH. It would be nice to see something different rather than having to look at those ugly handwriting of (presumably) Abang Hafiz on the white board in the hall. Sometimes, he would even update on the EPL scores (only for his favourite team, Liverpool, and only if they win)

College Song

SO far, in my three wonderful semesters in this Alma mater, I've never gotten to witness (or hear) a complete memorised full song of our college song during our official assembly. It IS a shame actually to be living in this so called-prestigious college and you could not even have the time to memorise four simple paragraphs of this song. However, I don't blame us fully in this. The song could have been better composed. It was a big issue when one of our very own Annanth Kumar, Batch 11, Secretary of SC wanted to change the college song as one of his manifestos. Everyone supported his vision but unfortunately was opposed by the Alumni. They (Alumni) regarded the song as a sole identity of KYUEM as it was created since the very birth of the college and have witnessed hundreds of people coming in and out of KYUEM successfully.

Could the new generations of KYUEM change/alter this boring song into a more inspiring one?

Mas Afzal in memories

6:38 pagi.18 December 2010.Aku menerima mesej daripada Ustaz Malikie, mengatakan bahawa saudara Mas Afzal sudah kembali ke rahmatullah. Innalillahi wainna ilaihi raaji`un. Sayu. Sedih. Namun, itulah ketentuan ilahi. Dahulu, sahabat seperjuangan, Syazwan, kini, saudara Mas Afzal. Kedua-duanya ku kenal di KYUEM. Sedekahkan Al-Fatihah terhadap kedua-duanya, semoga mereka ditempatkan dalam kalangan ahli syurga. Amin.

Tanpaku sedar, seorang demi seorang yang aku kenal, telah kembali menghadap yang Esa. Muhasabah diri... Dari insan yang bergelar HAMBA ALLAH..

          Happy New Year KY folks! May the new 1432H chapter brings more bless and joyness to us. Learning from the past hijrah done by prophet Muhammad and his companions, we, too, should mark the new year for our turning point of being a well-balanced students. Nothing much to wish further, except for stressing dear Muslims to fast on the day of Asyura’; the tenth of Muharram…*reminder; dining hall is not open on that particular day… ahaks.

          And hey, what’s the significance of this special day? Do you all know? 10^th. Of Muharram is the day of…

1. Sins of our ancestor, Adam, been forgave.
2. Crucifixion of Jesus.
3. Noah’s ark settled on mount of Judi.
4. Moses crossed the Red Sea.
5. the first rain poured on Earth.
6. the first day of creation of sky and Earth
7. Prophet Yunus been escaped free from the belly of the whale

See? The 10^th. Of Muharram was the day of God’s merciness upon human. Most of the prophets and human civilizations received blessings on this day as been stated clearly in the Bible and the holy Quran. There were lots more events happened on the day of Asyura’, but I think seven of them were enough. So, let’s get fasting!!!

Special Assembly

There will be a special assembly on Monday at 8.15 A.M in the Great Hall.

Bicycle Borrowing Service

Borrowing time : 5 - 5.30 pm

Returning time : 6.45 - 7.00pm

There are only 14 bicycles available for borrowing. The bicycles are provided on first-come-first-served basis and bookings will not be entertained. The administration department expects the students to be responsible towards any damage done to the bicycle. Lastly, the bicycle shed will not be opened during weekends and during rainy days.
